Bloomberg: Europe asked Russia to increase coal supplies

Amid an acute shortage of natural gas, Europe has asked Russia for more coal, writes Bloomberg

As previously reported by News Front, the price of gas on European markets continues to break records. Today the price of November gas futures on the Dutch TTF index reached $1,073 per thousand cubic meters after the opening of trading.

“Power producers on the continent are being forced to ask Russia for more coal to ease the energy crisis as winter approaches and record high gas prices erode profitability”, –  Bloomberg wrote.

According to the agency’s sources, Europe has made numerous attempts over the years to move away from coal and “green” electricity generation, but gas shortages have led to an energy supply crisis. For its part, TASS reports that Russia’s Energy Ministry has not received any appeals from China or European countries.

“The Russian Energy Ministry has not received any appeals from China or European countries on the issue of increasing coal exports from Russia”, –  the ministry said.
