The head of the PMR Krasnoselsky is ready to appeal to Russia with a request to recognize Transnistria, RIA Novosti reports.
The head of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that he was ready to appeal to Moscow with a request to recognize Pridnestrovie after a serious discussion when “the situation arises.” He also recalled that in 2006 a referendum was held, where 97% of those who voted were in favor of joining the Russian Federation.
“But this, again, is a political component. You have to be ready for recognition. Here we are ready for recognition: we are a state, with all branches of government, with our own currency, with our economy, with our finances. And the issue of recognition is a technical issue. The question, in principle, is not in us”, – Krasnoselsky.
60% of Russians and Ukrainians live in Transnistria. They sought to secede from Moldova even before the collapse of the USSR, fearing that Moldova would join Romania. And in 1992, after an unsuccessful attempt by the Moldovan authorities to solve the problem by force, Transnistria became a territory that was virtually outside the control of Chisinau.
