Kremlin says possible new US sanctions will be the worst-case scenario for relations

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the possible adoption by America of new anti-Russian sanctions would be the worst scenario for the development of bilateral relations.

So Peskov commented on the decision of the House of Representatives of the US Congress to approve the defense budget, which includes amendments to toughen sanctions against Russia.

“Of course, this is the worst scenario for the development of our relations. This would significantly undermine the spirit of Geneva and even those modest hopes for establishing, restoring some kind of dialogue that appeared after Geneva”, said the press secretary.

However, he added that the bill should be considered by the US Senate, and then signed by Joe Biden, before the document becomes law.
