Russian ambassador called the Swiss media reports about the “non-admission of the opposition to the elections” fakes

The Russian ambassador to Bern, Sergei Garmonin, called the Swiss media reports about the non-admission of opposition representatives to the elections in the Russian Federation as fake.

According to him, on the eve of the vote, active attempts were made to prove that the elections in Russia were allegedly rigged. Garmonin recalled the resolution of the European Parliament, containing the requirement to toughen policy towards Russia and prepare for non-recognition of the election results.

“Here (in Switzerland) we also observe such a picture that, as if ordered by the local media, they begin to publish a series of articles in which they try to show that these are elections without a choice, that the opposition does not take part in the elections, that opposition parties and representatives of the opposition have been arrested or planted, in general, they are not allowed to vote. We are forced to respond to all these attacks, unfounded, falsified, sheer fakes”, – said Garmonin to RIA Novosti.

He recalled that 14 political parties are taking part in the elections to the State Duma.

“If local residents saw the debates that took place on the eve of the elections, they could see with their own eyes how harshly some parties criticize the government. Therefore (we cannot) say that we have no opposition and it is not allowed to take part in the elections, this is a pure fake, this is absolutely not true”, the Russian ambassador noted.
