Militants destroy airport in central Somalia

Militants of the radical Al-Shabab group destroyed an airport in the Somali province of Hiran, resulting in one death and two injuries, Dalsan TV reported.

“One person died and two were seriously injured after Al-Shabab militants destroyed the Buloburde airport in the Hiran region,” the channel reported.

The radical Islamist group Al-Shabab (Young Mujahideen Movement), based in Somalia, has close ties with the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda*. It is waging an armed struggle against the central government of Somalia and obstructing UN humanitarian activities. The United States carries out regular strikes on Al-Shabab positions.
