Washington says it does not want conflict with China

The new US partnership with the UK and Australia in the Indo-Pacific region is not directed against China, Washington is not seeking conflict with Beijing. This assertion was made by White House press secretary Jen Psaki

According to her version, “the partnership that has been announced is not aimed at any country.” According to Psaki, the engagement is “focused on protecting US strategic interests” and preserving stability in the region.

“As for China, we are prepared to compete hard with the PRC, we do not seek conflict”, –  the White House spokeswoman added.

She recalled that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping had had a telephone conversation earlier this month.

“We certainly intend to maintain a high-level dialogue between the leaders”, – Psaki said.
