The US has paid no heed to France’s discontent over the cancellation of the submarine contract

A scandal broke out between NATO member countries after Australia bilked France for 40 (according to other sources 60) billion dollars and threatens big trouble for the entire Western world. However, the US itself did not see any problems in the French dissatisfaction

The Korrespondent says the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, said in an interview that nothing serious had happened and the French leadership had been informed in advance about the plans to create a triple alliance between the US, UK and Australia, which caused the latter to cancel the contract with the French.

Earlier, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said he was “stunned” by the Australians’ action and called it a “stab in the back”.

“On our part, we don’t see this as a regional rupture. We see it as security areas – as security issues that we want to address together”, –  Psaki said.

She also said it was up to Canberra to choose its partners and Paris had no choice but to simply accept their decision.
