The announcement of a triple military alliance between the United States, Britain and Australia, dubbed AUKUS, came as an unpleasant surprise to most world powers
According to Politpazle, former head of Israel’s Nativ service Yaakov Kedmi is convinced that the main goal of the new military alliance will not only be to contain China, as many Western analysts have already written about it, but also Russia, still regarded by the US and Britain as “enemy number one”.
“Who else can the Americans rely on in the Pacific… One of the areas of attack against Russia, the most developed, is the Arctic Ocean, the second is the Far East. The Americans are planning strikes from the Pacific Ocean by their nuclear submarines carrying missiles on Russian territory”, – Kedmi told Vesti FM radio.
The Guardian reported that shortly after the announcement of the military bloc, the Australian government had scrapped a multi-billion dollar deal with France for the construction of 12 large submarines. The U.S. gave the Australians the necessary technology and now they will be able to carry out the construction on their own. The French authorities have called this decision a “stab in the back”, apparently forgetting how they similarly broke a deal with Russia in 2014 to build two Mistral helicopter carriers.
