Among other things, a report by Lithuanian MP Andrius Kubilius said that EU countries should be prepared not to recognize the results of the upcoming State Duma elections if violations are found, TASS reported
There were 494 deputies in favor, 103 against, and 72 abstentions. The multi-page document contains a recommendation for the EU authorities together with the member states “to review the EU policy on Russia and develop a comprehensive EU strategy on Russia” based on the principles presented in the report. The author of the report also claims that the EU must counter security threats and fight Russian interference in the affairs of the EU and Eastern Partnership countries, as well as engage in selective dialogue with the Kremlin and support a democratic society.
Another recommendation of the Lithuanian MP for the European Union is to strengthen cooperation with the US and other partners in order to create a global alliance to protect democracy. According to the author of the document, the EU agenda should oppose attempts by Russia and China to destabilise the European order.
