Putin receives invitation to virtual summit on fight against COVID in U.S.

Russian President Vladimir Putin received an invitation to a virtual summit in the United States on the fight against coronavirus, it is being considered, the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Washington Post reported that the global summit on the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, chaired by the United States, will be held on September 22. The event will be titled “The Global COVID-19 Summit: Ending the Pandemic and Rebuilding the Best” during the UN General Assembly High Level Week.

“Yes, an invitation to this summit has been virtual. It is being considered,” Peskov said, answering the question whether Russia received an invitation to the summit.
