Launch of Nord Stream-2 will balance gas prices

The rise in gas prices in Europe will not affect its cost in Russia, said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov. Today the gas price on the ICE exchange has exceeded $950 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Peskov said that the rise in gas prices in Europe has nothing to do with Russia.

“These spot gas prices do not in any way affect the prices of pipeline gas, and recipients of pipeline gas in Europe are not subject to this high volatility, because the price is calculated there using a different formula. In this case, these price fluctuations and sharp jumps will not reach us”, the president’s press secretary explained.

According to him, the early launch of Nord Stream-2 will significantly balance natural gas prices in Europe, including on the spot market.
