Military expert Yakov Kedmi said in an interview with the Belarusian newspaper Belta that Minsk should determine its own priorities, but, in his opinion, the future of Belarus is inextricably linked with Russia
Kedmi said that the new political elites, which are now forming in Belarus, will determine the way the country will be. The expert stressed that one has to take into account the fact that almost no country in the world can be absolutely independent.
“But in an alliance with which state would Belarus develop the most today? Objectively, historically, politically, economically, culturally – all the interests, the past and the future are connected with Russia”, – said Kedmi.
As News Front reported earlier, Russia and Belarus have fully coordinated the integration programs of the Union State. Furthermore, from September 10 to 16, Minsk and Moscow are holding a joint military exercise called West-2021, which will be the final stage of joint training of the Russian and Belarusian Armed Forces this year.
