Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is calling on the US for indefinite help, including increased support to maintain independence from Russia and President Joe Biden’s support for membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation
“The fact that we are on the list of priority countries that President Biden met with means that we are a priority for the US, and we are grateful for that,\”, – Zelensky said in an interview with CNN host Farid Zakaria, which aired Sunday. – “It’s a big signal, but behind that signal we also expect action.”
The two leaders met this month at the White House, where Biden said the US was committed to Ukraine’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity”. At the time, Zelensky said he would ask Biden for support to join NATO.
“I asked President Biden directly about NATO”, – Zelensky said on CNN. According to him, “the US always gives a message and a signal” to European leaders.
