According to TASS, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the emergence of new risks and threats in the west of the Union State, the aggravation of the situation on the borders of the CSTO countries. He said this on Sunday during the awarding ceremony for the servicemen participating in the Belarusian-Russian exercises “West-2021”.
“The first stage of the joint exercises West-2021 has ended. This is one of the most important training activities for the armed forces, which is being carried out against the backdrop of the ongoing hybrid aggression from the West against Belarus and Russia. We see new risks and challenges in the west of the Union State, aggravation of the situation on the borders of the CSTO member states”, said Lukashenko, quoted by the BelTA news agency.
Addressing the participants in the exercises, the Belarusian president said that their actions “clearly confirmed the high readiness of the armies of our states and the Belarusian people for joint actions to ensure their sovereignty and independence.”
“We are once again convinced of the efficiency of the created system of territorial defense,” Lukashenko said.
“And let no one even doubt that we – Belarusians, Russians, Kazakhstanis, citizens of other CSTO member states – are ready to do everything to preserve regional security and peace in our Fatherland,” the President of Belarus assured.
