Eastern and Central Europe have a fundamentally different position on refugees than the more liberal countries and societies of Western and Northern Europe said Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov. This is how he reacted to the Czech prime minister who said there is no place for refugees from Afghanistan in Europe
“There are no de facto unified ‘fundamental values’ on this issue within the EU. In the more nationalistic countries of Eastern Europe, the sense of self-preservation is strong. And in Western Europe, too, enthusiasm for people from North Africa and the Middle East has noticeably waned. There are no strong voices in favour of accepting them either from Berlin or Paris”, – the senator said.
Earlier, the Czech Prime Minister stated that there is no place for refugees from Afghanistan in Europe
