President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that after the operation to evacuate people from Afghanistan, the whole world applauded Ukrainian military intelligence.
The Day of Military Intelligence is celebrated in Ukraine on September 7. Earlier, the country’s authorities organized six evacuation flights from Kabul, which evacuated more than 650 people. Zelensky on Tuesday congratulated military intelligence officers on their professional holiday.
“Military intelligence officers today play a key role in protecting the interests and security of Ukraine. Thanks to them, we are able to prevent threats and overcome challenges. And after the operation to rescue people in Afghanistan, Ukrainian military intelligence is applauded by the whole world!” – wrote Zelensky on Twitter.
A month ago, the Taliban (the Taliban movement* is recognized as terrorist and prohibited in the Russian Federation) stepped up their offensive against government forces and entered Kabul on August 15. The next day, the Taliban announced that the war was over, and the form of government in the state would become clear in the near future. On the night of August 31, the US military left the Kabul airport, ending the nearly 20-year American military presence in Afghanistan. On September 6, the Taliban announced that Panjshir, the last of the 34 Afghan provinces, had come under their control with fighting, and for the second time in three weeks declared the end of the war.
