White House press secretary Jen Psaki earlier said that the US administration does not consider the possibility of recognition of Taliban representatives to be an urgent issue
US President Joe Biden, who returned to the White House on Monday after spending the weekend in Wilmington, Delaware, said that the United States had no immediate intention of recognising representatives of the radical Taliban as the new leaders of Afghanistan.
On the White House lawn, reporters asked the head of state if the United States intended to recognize the Taliban’s authority in Afghanistan. “No. That’s a long way off”, – Biden replied.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last week that the US administration did not consider it urgent that Taliban representatives be recognised as Afghanistan’s new leaders.
