Biden evaluates prospects for the recognition of the new authorities in Afghanistan

It is too early to speak about the recognition of the Taliban* government in Afghanistan, this is still “far away.” This opinion is shared by US President Joe Biden, RIA Novosti reports.

In a message distributed by the press service of the White House, it was noted that the US leader had come out to journalists with the intention of making a statement.

“Tomorrow is a big day,” the American president began, but he was not allowed to finish.

From all sides, Biden was bombarded with questions about the situation in Afghanistan, in particular, he was asked to comment on the recognition of the Taliban regime.

“It’s far from that. It’s far from that,” the US President said.

In early August, Taliban militants *, against the background of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, launched an offensive against the positions of government forces and entered Kabul on August 15. On September 6, the Taliban announced the capture of the only province not under their control – Panjshir. Resistance forces have denied this information.
