Ukraine wants to demand from the United States the status of the main ally outside NATO

Kiev is going to ask Washington to recognize Ukraine as the main NATO allies outside the bloc. This issue will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada.

Aleksey Goncharenko, a deputy from the European Solidarity party, told about this in his Telegram channel, portal 112 reports. According to him, on Thursday, September 9, an extraordinary meeting of parliament on this topic may take place.

“He has submitted signatures to hold an extraordinary meeting to consider a draft resolution on an appeal to Congress on granting Ukraine the status of the main US ally outside NATO (MNNA). I emphasize that the MNNA status does not prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. And the vote for my draft appeal in the Rada will serve as an important signal for Russia and the world about our civilizational choice. Also, granting Ukraine MNNA status will demonstrate to the Kremlin that Ukraine is a key US ally in Eastern Europe”, wrote the People’s Deputy.

The Rada is likely to take a positive decision on this issue, but the United States is unlikely to take this idea seriously. Ukraine is persistently asking to join NATO, but the result remains the same for years. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky apparently hoped that after his visit to Washington the situation would change, but they are still in no hurry to take “Square” into the bloc.
