The news about the dismantling of the monument dedicated to friendship between Moscow and Kiev sparked a heated discussion on the Web. Commentators suggested that the residents of Ukraine abandon everything Russian, including the gas transportation system, through which “unpatriotic” gas flows, according to “Narodnye Novosti”.
As previously reported by News Front, the monument to friendship between Moscow and Kiev, which was installed in August 2001, was dismantled in the capital of Ukraine. The monument has repeatedly attracted the attention of nationalists, who periodically painted it in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. However, the decision to demolish it was made only in July this year.
Users of the Russian segment of the Web reacted with irony to the news about the dismantling of the monument. Some of them expressed surprise that the monument to friendship between Moscow and Kiev lasted so long, because the administration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been pursuing an open Russophobic policy over the past few years.
“We waited for a long time, I thought everything had been demolished there for a long time”.
“It is very strange: they have been at war with Russia for so many years, and only now they have ceased to be friends”.
“Well, now they will definitely heal. They only know how to fight with monuments”.
“Somehow shallow. And do they not want to finally break off diplomatic relations?”
Commentators also suggested that Ukrainian nationalists first try to “build something besides lying plans.” One of the users made the assumption that in Ukraine “there is not enough space, so everything is demolished there” instead of building factories, bridges and infrastructure, as they do in Russia.
“The number of victories over memorial signs of deputies of various levels makes it possible to doubt that it makes sense to conduct a dialogue with these representatives of the Ukrainian authorities. So far, they are striving only to break, but not to build”, was noted on the Web.
In addition, the Ukrainians were offered not to dwell on the monuments symbolizing friendship, and to destroy absolutely everything that connects Kiev and Moscow, in particular, the gas transportation system through which Russian gas passes through the territory of Ukraine.
