Ukrainian ex deputy says Europe is afraid of stopping gas transit through Ukraine

Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yevgeny Muraev said that European countries are afraid of stopping the transit of blue fuel through the territory of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.

“The longer they [official Kiev] shout that there is a war going on, the more Europe is afraid that our gas transportation system will be destroyed. And what does Europe approve of? We want the gas pipelines to circumvent the zone of instability, that is, Ukraine”, Muraev said on the air of the Nash TV channel.

In his opinion, German Chancellor Angela Merkel “did not take into account the interests of Ukraine, having agreed with US President Joe Biden on the “Nord Stream-2”. Earlier, Berlin and Washington issued a joint statement in which the United States recognized the impossibility of stopping the construction of the Russian gas pipeline, and Germany pledged to seek to maintain the transit of blue fuel through the territory of Ukraine.

“She brought energy security to Germany, disregarding the interests of Ukraine,” the ex-people’s deputy stressed.

The Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline consists of two lines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year: from the coast of Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea. Official Kiev actively opposes the launch of Nord Stream-2, fearing to lose revenues from the transit of blue fuel through the territory of its country.
