Kiev lacks political will to decide on a dialogue with Moscow

The Russian side is committed to improving relations with Ukraine. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

In an interview with the TV channel “Russia 1”, the official representative of Vladimir Putin said that Moscow wants to establish a dialogue with Kiev, but there are several factors that hinder this, reports “Correspondent”.

The main problem remains Ukraine’s aspiration to join NATO. Its membership in the Alliance poses a hypothetical threat to Russia, as its military infrastructure will be on its borders.

“First, Zelenskiy says: ‘We want, we are striving for NATO.’ The Americans say: “Great, there are certain conditions, fulfill them, and we will be waiting for you with open arms.” This is a direct threat to Russia. This is a potential future approach of NATO’s military infrastructure to our borders, ”said Peskov.

He stressed that today negotiations are impossible due to the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to restore relations. The President of the Russian Federation seeks personal meetings that could correct the discord between the two states.

“Putin is ready to meet, and he believes that the sad state in which Russian-Ukrainian relations are now is worthless, and, in theory, this must, of course, be corrected. But so far we do not see the same mutual political will from Kiev”, summed up the press secretary of the Russian leader.
