The parties also paid attention to practical issues of bilateral Russian-German relations
A high-level working group on political and security issues chaired by Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Federal Foreign Office State Secretary Miguel Berger held a meeting on Friday, TASS reported, with the sides discussing global security issues.
“The meeting included meetings of three subgroups: on combating terrorism, organised crime and drug threats, on strategic (politico-military) issues, and on arms control and non-proliferation of WMD [weapons of mass destruction], which presented reports on the work done during the reporting period during the plenary session”, – the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released Saturday.
The meeting reportedly included a meeting in the format of a bilateral “negotiation mechanism” on cybersecurity issues. The negotiators agreed that the next meeting of the group will be held in 2022 in Moscow.
“Attention was also paid to practical issues of bilateral Russian-German relations. The Russian side confirmed that there is considerable potential for their progressive development in all areas on the basis of respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs”, – the diplomatic office summed up.
