Taliban militants* intend to eliminate the leader of the Afghan Resistance Front, Ahmad Massoud, who operates in Panjshir. Afghan Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Zohir Agbar stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“The Taliban will never negotiate with them [with the leaders of the resistance], they are not politicians, but terrorists who were on the list of banned organizations in many countries of the world three years ago,” the diplomat said.
In his opinion, the Taliban* seek to “bring the whole of Afghanistan to its knees” and “destroy the leaders of the resistance, especially Ahmad Massoud,” who operates in the capital Panjshir, the only region not controlled by the Taliban*.
“I am confident that the resistance from this province will spread to other provinces in Afghanistan. In Panjshir, there are real patriotic warriors who fought against Ahmad Shah Massoud. And now they support his son, and they will resist to the end”, the ambassador emphasized.
According to CNN, intense fighting has resumed around the Panjshir province. On August 31, the Afghan Resistance Front managed to repel a Taliban attack*.
