Russia to conduct a military inspection in Finland

Russian officials are conducting an inspection of a military facility in Finland on Wednesday as part of the 2011 OSCE Vienna Document, the Finnish Defense Forces reported.

“In accordance with the 2011 OSCE Vienna Document, Russia conducts an inspection to increase confidence and security during a visit to the Karelia Air Command (Finnish Air Force unit) on September 1. The assessment team consists of three people and they have diplomatic status,” message.

It is specified that the purpose of the visit is to establish whether the annual report of Finland on the exchange of military information on the Karelian air command on the basis of the Vienna Treaty of 2011 corresponds with the information that the assessment team will now receive.

The visit is received by the head of this military unit, Colonel Aki Puustinen.

The visit will be conducted in accordance with the general precautions regarding COVID-19 of the Finnish government and the Finnish Defense Forces and to some extent with the COVID-19 recommendations regarding the international activities of the Finnish military, the report said.
