Washington has decided on a new ambassador to Ukraine

The United States administration has already decided on the candidate for ambassador to Ukraine, the procedures required to approve the appointment are almost complete

Former US ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said this on July 24.

“The US has representation in Ukraine, but without an ambassador. However, I have reliable information that the ambassador has already been elected and the person is now going through the necessary process, after which he will arrive in Kiev as soon as he receives the consent of the Senate”, –  the diplomat said.

There has been no permanent US ambassador to Ukraine since May 2019, when then-President Donald Trump recalled the head of the diplomatic mission, Marie Jovanovich, amid a scandal involving US embassy pressure on the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.

US Charge d’Affaires Christina Quinn is working in Ukraine, but she is currently on leave, with George Kent performing her duties.

Under him, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who never switched to Ukrainian and was tainted by ties to neo-Nazis, has been dismissed. Kent was also noted for a number of harsh anti-Russian statements.
