“The Taliban are in talks with Qatar and Turkey over the operation of the Kabul airport, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Tuesday
“The UN Security Council resolution regarding the security of the airport has to be implemented. Negotiations are now underway with the Qataris and the Turks to manage the airport. We must demand safe access to the airport”, – he said on France 2 .
Afghanistan’s airspace has emptied after the last U.S. military aircraft left the country, according to Flightradar, an air-tracking service.
There were no commercial flights in Afghan airspace as of 11:50 a.m. Moscow time Tuesday.
On Tuesday night, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Kabul international airport was without air traffic controllers after the US military departed there and could not operate normally.
“There are no air traffic controllers. The airport is not performing its functions. Aircraft flying into, out of or through Kabul must use extreme caution”, – CNN quotes excerpts from an FAA statement.
It also prohibited American planes from flying over most of Afghanistan.
