Alliance spokesman Alexander Vinnikov noted the increased presence of alliance forces in the Black Sea and the scale of the past joint exercise Sea Breeze
According to TASS, the head of the NATO mission in Kiev, Alexander Vinnikov, said in an interview with the European Pravda newspaper on Tuesday that the developments in Donbas were not an obstacle to Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
“There is no such provision in the NATO Washington Treaty. At the end of the day, however, the allies must be convinced that the accession of a new member will strengthen the security of the alliance. That is why this decision is taken collectively”, – he said.
Vinnikov also touched on how NATO could help Ukraine restore territorial integrity and control over territorial waters. He cited the increased presence of alliance forces in the Black Sea and the scale of the Sea Breeze joint exercise involving 30 countries.
