There are dead and wounded among the radicals
TASS quoted a source in the said province as saying that national resistance forces from the northern Panjsher province, which has not submitted to the radical Taliban (banned in Russia), repulsed the militants’ attack on one of the outposts in the western part of the region.
“The Taliban attempted to break into Panjsher through one of the outposts on the western side this evening but their attack was repulsed. There are dead and wounded among the Taliban. The situation in the region is calm at the moment”, – he said.
According to him, the Taliban have been concentrating their forces around Panjsher recently.
“The negotiation process is not yielding any results. It is likely that the Taliban are preparing for combat operations and are conducting a kind of battlefield reconnaissance”, – the source added.
On Wednesday, Abdul Hafeez Mansoor, who represents Panjsher in talks with radicals, informed about the first direct talks between the resistance forces and the Taliban delegation in Charikar city (the administrative centre of Parwan province). He said the sides agreed to “continue the dialogue for peace to avoid a military confrontation”.
