Armenia says Russian peacekeepers have created conditions for normal life in Karabakh

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said “Russia played a key role in suspending Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh”

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said at a news conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday that the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh creates conditions for the restoration of normal living conditions there, it was reported.

“Russia has played a key role in suspending Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. The deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh as a factor preventing provocations by Baku and as a factor ensuring the security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh creates conditions for the restoration of normal living conditions”, –  he said.

The issue of the political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains open, Mirzoyan said.

“Today, I once again noted that Armenia’s position coincides with the position of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, according to which the issue of the political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains open. We believe that it is possible to reach a solution, which will bring peace and stability to the South Caucasus only through negotiations. At the heart of such a solution there has to be, first and foremost, the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh’s status”, –  he said.
