Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that, in his opinion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should discuss with American leader Joe Biden
He believes that he should ask for the deployment of a US military contingent on Ukrainian territory, UNIAN reported, citing the diplomat’s speech on the NTA TV channel.
Kimkin is sure that this is a necessary step to “deter the aggressor.” Zelensky should use this meeting to insist on bringing soldiers to Ukraine, and later on building US military infrastructure.
In addition, the former minister advises Zelensky to firmly demand NATO membership. He believes that some kind of special status for Ukraine will not be enough.
Earlier, the Ukrainian presidential office said it was not considering the option of postponing or canceling the talks between Zelensky and Biden. This could happen against the background of a significant aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan.
