Turkey and the Taliban* may well find a common language. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov is sure of this.
In his Telegram channel, he noted that an alliance between Ankara and the Taliban*, who seized power in Afghanistan, is possible. Turkish President Recep Erdogan has already begun to prepare the ground for this. In July of this year, he visited Northern Cyprus and, speaking of the Taliban, noted that the Turks “do not contradict their faith in anything.”
“The US left Afghanistan – others will come. Among the candidates frightening the West are China and Iran. Some people call Russia. But Ankara also sees new opportunities for themselves”, Pushkov stressed.
In recent years, Turkey has been very persistently trying to regain its place among the world leaders. Erdogan can use the situation in Afghanistan to satisfy his ambitions and gain leverage on the West.
