Over the past two years, the CDU/CSU bloc has lost 10-12% of the vote and now has the support of only one-fifth of voters – 22%
The party of outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel may lose the Bundestag election this autumn, says the well-known Russian politician and journalist Alexei Pushkov.
“Merkel leaves the CDU/CSU in a difficult position. Over the last two years, the party has lost 10-12 percent of the vote and now has the support of only a fifth of the electorate – 22 percent. Today she is already ahead of the SPD (23%), which was buried hand in hand until recently, and the Greens are pulling ahead with 18%, although their chances of winning the September elections do not look as good as the liberal media, which is in love with them, are trying to portray them. There is probably a weariness in society of Merkel’s party, as well as a gap between her political attitudes, first of all, to accept refugees, and the expectations of a part of the conservative electorate, disappointed in her, which has other priorities”, – said Pushkov.
