Biden has decided that the US army will stay in Afghanistan until the end of August or a little longer

US President Joe Biden has decided that US troops will remain in Afghanistan until August 31, the deadline for their withdrawal from the country

The US president has reportedly made the decision after consultation with his national security team, but it has not yet been made public.

Meanwhile, according to AP, Biden has asked the national security team to prepare plans in case the situation deteriorates. According to BP, these plans envisage a short-term extension of the American contingent’s deployment in Afghanistan.

It also became known that the head of state told the G7 leaders that the possibility of extending the U.S. mission in Afghanistan is still there. Alexey Pushkov commented on this statement in his Telegram channel:
“Biden is trying to soften the blow to US credibility in the world after the hasty evacuation from Afghanistan. They left if they wanted to, we will come back if we want to. But they won’t. The defeat is irreversible. Individual strikes or operations will not change anything. And Washington is well aware of that, trying only to minimize the damage to the global image of the United States.
