China calls future US COVID report undeserving of credibility

The American intelligence report on the origin of the coronavirus is unlikely to be based on facts, the document is “absolutely untrustworthy,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin.

Earlier, White House spokesman Jen Psaki said that the intelligence services report on the origin of the infection that caused the global pandemic will be ready on Tuesday. First, US President Joe Biden will familiarize himself with the contents of the document, and the report will be made public in a few days.

“Research into the origin of the virus by intelligence is in itself anti-scientific, and the US intelligence services have long been known for their misconduct, it is extremely unlikely that the so-called investigation report on the origin of COVID-19, which they are preparing, is based on facts,” RIA Novosti quoted Wenbin as saying.

In mid-August, CNN, citing sources, reported that the American special services had prepared a preliminary version of the report, which is being verified. According to journalists, the document “is nothing out of the ordinary,” but it is possible that the data may change by the end of this month. Intelligence is said to have been unable to pinpoint whether COVID-19 originated in the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, or whether it passed on to humans naturally from animals.

At the end of May, the White House prepared a material in which the version of the spread of coronavirus due to an emergency in a scientific laboratory was considered. The report of the American administration cited the opinion of US President Joe Biden that the intelligence community “united around two possible scenarios, but did not come to a final conclusion on this issue.”

‘The head of the White House then instructed the relevant departments “to redouble efforts to collect and analyze information that will help bring the investigation … to a final conclusion” on this issue and inform him of the results within 90 days.

Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the United States is searching for Chinese scientists to disclose information about the origin of COVID-19.
