In Poland and the Baltic States, Belarus was accused of a hybrid war due to the migration crisis on the border

They called on the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Minsk to immediately make concrete efforts to clarify this issue with the Belarusian authorities.

According to TASS, the Prime Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland held a video conference on this topic on Sunday and expressed their serious concern over the situation on the borders with Belarus. They stated that they consider the migration crisis on the border with Belarus to be a hybrid war of Minsk against the European Union. The corresponding statement was released on Monday by the Polish government.

“It is clear to us that the current crisis was planned and systematically organized by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko. The use of migrants to destabilize neighboring states is a clear violation of international law and qualifies as a hybrid attack against Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, and therefore against the entire European Union”, the heads of government of the four countries wrote in a statement.

In the opinion of Poland and the Baltic states, the Belarusian side should take responsibility for the people for whom Minsk organized the move. They called on the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Minsk to immediately make concrete efforts to clarify this issue with the Belarusian authorities.

“We, the Prime Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, call on the Belarusian authorities to stop actions leading to a further escalation of tensions in our bilateral relations and in relations with the EU,” the statement says.
