Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov said that the representative of the Taliban banned in Russia visited the Russian Embassy in Kabul today and asked the Russian diplomats to convey to the militia leaders in Panjsher Gorge that the Taliban want to reach a political agreement with them
According to the diplomat, Panjsher province currently remains the only point in Afghanistan not under the control of the movement.
“There was a senior representative of the Taliban political office at our embassy. He asked us to convey a political message to Panjsher. The day before, Amrullah Saleh, the country’s first vice president, had moved to Panjsher from Kabul. He has proclaimed himself president. The son of a former Mujahideen commander, Ahmad Masood, is also in the area. They are trying to put together a people’s militia”, – Dmitry Zhirnov explained on the YouTube channel Solovyov Live.
The Taliban* also asked the Russian diplomats to convey to the leaders of Panjsher that the representatives of the movement want to find a peaceful way to resolve the situation, for example by reaching a political agreement.
