According to the Foreign Minister, Russia should rely on its own forces, and not on external partners.
According to TASS, on Sunday at a meeting of the Russian president with representatives of the United Russia party, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Western countries are trying to make every effort so that the external conditions for the development of Russia are not favorable enough.
“It is clear – in recent years this has been especially vividly manifested – that our Western colleagues want to do everything to ensure that the external conditions for the development of Russia are not as favorable as we would like,” the head of the diplomatic department said.
He added that in the line of containment, the historical theme has been especially actively used lately.
“On the issue of historical memory, the results of the Second World War, and this is not just some kind of ideological offensive,” he said.
“Behind this is the desire to substantiate the already practical policy of the West, which they call “the need to respect a world order based on rules”.
From the actions of the West, it becomes clear that “it is not interested, it does not want to solve key issues of international relations in a circle where there are countries with their own opinion – Russia, China and many others”, Lavrov added.
“Hence the attempt to transfer the decisions of all major issues, from the point of view of the West, to a narrow circle of like-minded people, and then try to present it as the ultimate truth,” the minister said.
According to him, the response to “such a line of the West” and “policy of containment” should be Russia’s reliance on its own forces.
“We have never strived for self-isolation, for confrontation, but relying on partners who are unreliable, we probably already do not allow the latest history, which we have experienced on ourselves,” the Foreign Minister stressed.
The minister added that the Russian side will be “always open to cooperation”, but Moscow should “have its own solutions and technologies in all key spheres of the state’s life”. At the same time, Lavrov believes that Russia should rely on its own forces, and not on external partners.
