The brother of former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has joined the Taliban*, which has seized power in the country
This was revealed in a post by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (as the Taliban call themselves – ed.) in the social network Twitter.
“Hashmat Ghani, the brother of former President Ashraf Ghani, joined the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with the assistance of [nephew of Sirajuddin Haqqani, leader of the Taliban allied extremist network Haqqani] Khalilurrahman Haqqani”, – the message read.
Hashmat has been chairman of the Grand Council of Kuchis, an ethnic group that is close to the Pashtuns, since 2002. He also heads The Ghani Group. It includes companies that provide security services to private and government clients, import and export, construction and real estate.
Earlier News Front reported that the Taliban have stated their intention to present a new system of government in Afghanistan in the coming weeks.
