State Department says Ukraine has agreed to accept Afghan evacuees

U.S. Foreign Ministry official Ned Price reported an offer by authorities in Ukraine and several other states to accept evacuee Afghans at risk

Price said this at a press conference on Friday, August 20. He was quoted by the agency’s press service as saying.

Bahrain, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Qatar, Tajikistan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan have agreed to help transport the Afghans “to safety,” he said.

Besides ukraine, the governments of albania, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Kosovo, northern Macedonia, Mexico, Poland, Qatar, rwanda and uganda have agreed to settle afghans in their territory.

Price said the U.S. has evacuated more than 18,000 people from Afghanistan since late July.
