Russian senator: US sanctions will not prevent Nord Stream 2 launch

Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov has commented on the imposition of new US sanctions against companies linked to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline

The RIA Novosti news agency reported the words of the politician, who is confident that the project will not be affected by these measures in any way.

“These are ridiculous decisions. All this is done to divert attention from the U.S. situation in Afghanistan, from which they shamefully fled”, –  Jabarov said.

The senator stressed that Russia has long been accustomed to ridiculous US attempts to influence NSP2 and another restriction will not prevent the completion of construction and start transporting gas through the new pipeline.

Earlier, News Front reported that Washington imposed sanctions against two Russian companies and two ships for their participation in the Nord Stream – 2 project.
