Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that contacts between the two countries are at a very high level
“Good afternoon, very glad to see you, thank you for coming, accepting the invitation. We have constant contacts, they are at a very high level in all directions”, – Putin said.
Putin said security issues are very important in view of the situation in Afghanistan, and expressed hope for a meeting next Monday within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
“One of the most pressing issues now is security, especially in view of the events now unfolding in Afghanistan. I hope we will get together on Monday via videoconference within the framework of the CSTO, just to synchronize our watches”, – Putin said.
He added that the CSTO and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation are scheduled to meet in mid-September.
For his part, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said relations between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation are developing successfully and dynamically in the spirit of strategic partnership.
“Kazakhstan and Russia are allies, we are constantly working on all issues on the agenda, be it the international agenda, security problems and even more so the issues of bilateral cooperation. It is gratifying that relations between our countries are developing successfully in the spirit of strategic partnership, dynamically”, – Tokayev said.
