Experts approve use of Sputnik Lite for people over 60

The medical community has approved the use of a single-component vaccine against the new coronavirus Sputnik Lite for people over 60, including for revaccination

Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said.

“Experts have given permission to use Sputnik Light vaccine in persons over 60 years old, for revaccination it is mainly used, those who have already been previously vaccinated. “For persons over 60 years of age, in order to maintain and preserve lives, Sputnik Lite may be recommended today by the medical community for those who have previously been sickened”, –  he said.

Murashko also noted that in general, there are enough vaccines against coronavirus in all regions of Russia.

According to the minister, the proportion of elderly people who die from covid is about 85%, so they need to be vaccinated.

“Vaccination is very important, especially for those over 60. We were in the red zone yesterday and we saw a huge number of patients, and in serious condition [including] those over 60. They are already sorry, they understand that they should have been vaccinated, but the disease is already neglected. We see that in the structure, including deaths, 85% are people over 60 years old”, –  he said.
