The deadline for the implementation of the ambitious goal is 2035.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine intends to build a professional powerful fleet by 2035.
“The issue of Crimea is also a question of unblocking the Black Sea and Azov coasts. We are working on it. There is a task to build a large fleet by 2035. This is long enough, but we will be able to see the results of the first stage on August 24 of this year”, the Ukrainian president said.
“Our task is to build a professional powerful fleet capable of repelling anyone. We are a peaceful state, but we must be ready for any steps. We are preparing to unblock the Black Sea region. I personally gave such a task and it was supported by our army”.
Zensky noted that Ukraine cannot wait 20 years until the country has an infrastructure for full-fledged shipbuilding, so the government will begin to build a fleet, including in other states. At the same time, infrastructure will be built in Ukraine in order to pick up this process. Zelensky promises that “there will be corvettes, there will be military boats, there will be small submarines.” The same applies to military bases, the construction of the first will soon begin in Berdyansk. In this large-scale project, Ukraine counts on support from the European Union, Great Britain and the United States.
“The issue of strengthening the Ukrainian Navy will also be part of the upcoming meeting with the US President,” Zelensky added.

“The strategy of transferring important events to a distant perspective is not new, and as the ancient eastern parable teaches us, about how the shah was promised to teach the donkey to read, in many years everything will change, and either the shah or the donkey will go to another world, and there will simply be no question from whom”, the expert notes.
“So it is here. By 2035, the situation in the world may radically change: Zelensky will no longer be president, the United States will finally get tired of Ukraine, and Ukraine itself as a single state may no longer exist. In order to be convinced of the transience of political events, it is enough to look at Afghanistan. And therefore, Zelensky with the same success can promise a flight to Mars, anyway, no one will ask him for it in 15 years”.
