27 thousand more: outflow of population increased in Ukraine in 2021

From January to June, 186.5 thousand people left the country. This is almost 27 thousand more than in the same period in 2020.

The population of Ukraine from January to June 2021 decreased by 205.2 thousand people and as of July 1 it was 41.383 million people. This is evidenced by the published data of the State Statistics Service (Gosstat).

So, since the beginning of the year, the number of deaths has reached 349 thousand people, although for the same period last year this figure was lower – 287 thousand. During the same period, 132.6 thousand children were born, which is 6.5 thousand less than the same indicator a year earlier.

“The number of deaths significantly predominates over the number of newborns. There are 38 newborns per 100 deaths,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to the State Statistics Service, 197.8 thousand people arrived in Ukraine in the first half of the year, which is 30.5 thousand more than in the same period of 2020.
186.5 thousand people left the country (26.8 thousand more than in the same period last year).
