German authorities say want to talk with Putin

The German authorities said what they want to talk with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Chancellor Angela Merkel. Her visit to Moscow is scheduled for August 20.

The FRG Cabinet of Ministers announced that it intends to raise several international topics. Among them are the situation in Afghanistan, Belarus and Ukraine. After negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation, she intends to give a press conference.

The most interesting thing about Merkel’s visit to Russia is its date. She will arrive two days before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Her talks will take place in Kiev, where she will arrive on August 22.

Ukraine hopes that Germany will begin to defend the interests of Kiev. In particular, we are talking about the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. However, it is much more profitable for Berlin itself to cooperate with Moscow. Merkel understands this and therefore Zelensky should not expect a special attitude.
