European Union fears a repeat of the 2015 migration crisis

The European Union expects that after the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban*, it will face a new round of the migration crisis, similar to the difficulties of 2015.

France and Germany are worried that armed conflict and regime change in the country will force many of its citizens to change their place of residence. Already, talk has begun about a potential influx of refugees into the bloc.
Probably, the topic of migration will become a key one in the elections in Germany and France. this was stated by Alberto-Horst Neidhardt, Migration Policy Analyst. European leaders are already talking about the need to develop an action plan for refugees from war-torn Afghanistan.

“We must anticipate and protect ourselves from large illegal migration flows,” French President Emmanuel Macron expressed fears.

Armin Lasche, head of the Christian Democratic Union and likely German chancellor, is also concerned about the situation. He stated that everything must be done to prevent a repeat of 2015.

Earlier, the withdrawal of American troops from the country was commented on by former US President Donald Trump. He called the belated withdrawal of the military the main shame of his successor Joe Biden.
