Vyacheslav Volodin, head of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, commented on the situation in Afghanistan. He believes that it was the result of the collapse of US foreign policy.
He drew attention to the fact that the intervention of the States led to the death of more than 250 thousand civilians, RIA Novosti reports. Numerous tragedies were caused not only by terrorist attacks, but also by NATO military operations.
“The 20-year stay of American troops in Afghanistan ended with tragedy and a humanitarian disaster. The number of drug laboratories has increased hundreds of times, the population has become impoverished, more than 250,000 civilians have died as a result of NATO military operations and at the hands of terrorists. Today we have witnessed the collapse of American foreign policy”, Volodin said.
Russia is monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and is seriously concerned about how it will develop further. The borders of Moscow’s strategic allies are located on dangerous territory. In addition, Russia itself is also much closer to it than the United States itself.
Earlier News Front reported that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko believes that the Taliban * coming to power is the result of the US and NATO activities in third countries. Moscow offered to cooperate to bring peace back to Afghanistan, but Washington refused the partnership.
