The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has denied rumors about the arrival of 70 thousand refugees from Afghanistan to the country, the website stopfake.kz, created with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the republic, reported on Monday.
According to the portal, rumors are spreading among Kazakhstanis that 70 thousand Afghan citizens will arrive in the country, the first 500 people have allegedly already arrived at the Shymkent airport (in the south of the country).
“As of today, the information disseminated does not correspond to reality,” the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, quoted by stopfake.kz, says.
The situation in Afghanistan has become especially aggravated in recent weeks, with the offensive by members of the radical Taliban* on large cities. On Sunday, media and sources said the rebels were in control of all border crossings. Later that day, militants said they had entered Kabul and taken control of the presidential palace. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country, he said, “to prevent the carnage.” On Monday night, the official representative of the political office of the Taliban* Mohammed Naim said that the war in Afghanistan is over, and the form of government in the state will become clear in the near future.
