Media: Taliban seize Afghan provincial administration building in Khost province

Khost town is 30km from the Pakistani border

Supporters of the radical Taliban movement have taken control of the administration building of Khost province, located in the south-east of Afghanistan. The Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera reported this on Sunday.

Khost city, the administrative centre of the province, is located 30 km from the border with Pakistan.

There have been no comments from official authorities on the situation in Khost.

On April 14, Biden announced the decision to end the operation in Afghanistan, which has become the longest foreign military campaign in American history. Against this background, there was a sharp deterioration in the security situation in the Islamic republic, connected with the fact that the Taliban increased the tempo of the offensive in a number of directions. According to various open sources, as well as claims by the Taliban themselves, radicals control up to 90% of the country, including areas along the borders with Iran, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
